Lincoln is the state capital and thriving home of the University of Nebraska. It was originally founded around salt mines, where saline springs bubbled to the surface of a dry lake bed. Lincoln is a vibrant community with great appreciation for life's finest pleasures, food, art, music, sports.
Holmes Park and Lake is located on Antelope Creek. It covers an area of 112-acre. Recreational opportunities at Holmes include fishing, hiking, biking, picnicking, and golfing.

Pioneers Park includes an outdoor amphitheater, picnic areas, hiker trails, ponds, a sled run and a golf course. It covers an area of 1,100-acre. The park was designed by Lincoln's Ernst Herminghaus and was placed on the National Register of outstanding landscape architecture in 1993. Antelope Park is a beautiful park with excellent facilities, including Rose Gardens, Sunken Gardens, fountains, statues, Lincoln Children's Zoo, a swimming pool and several playground areas. Hazel Abel Park is a quaint, Renaissance-style park with a gazebo, fountain, play area and benches all surrounded by an ornate cast iron fence.
