Lincoln Children’s Museum

Lincoln, the capital of Nebraska, has earned a reputation as one of the Midwest's most beloved cities. Lincoln is one of the few large cities of Nebraska not located along either the Platte River or the Missouri River. Home to fine culinary and artistic treasures; museums; breathtaking parks, golf courses, and trails; and a friendly Midwestern attitude, Lincoln offers the exhilaration of a big city and the serenity of the countryside all in one place.

Lincoln Children's Museum has three floors and covers an area of 45,500 square feet. The Museum offers a wonderful learning atmosphere for children, where they can explore and interact with the exhibits. Three-story apple tree, a hot air balloon, a supermarket, a police and fire department, a real airplane are some of the exhibits featured at the museum. Lincoln Children's Museum was constructed as the first green building in the city of Lincoln. The Museum incorporated these green building principles into the design and renovation of the facility. These green building principles include minimizing the amount of waste generated during construction, recycling materials that could be separated from the construction waste stream, using recycled content building materials where feasible, and using best management practices regarding energy and water conservation. The museum invites children to create, discover, and learn through the power of play. Lincoln Children's Museum is a private non-profit organization, that receives no city, state or federal tax dollars. The museum is a member of the Association of Children's Museums.
