Ted Sorensen is well known as the Adviser and Counsel of President John F Kennedy. He is a retired senior partner with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Garrison and Wharton working in a farm. Ted Sorensen is also known as a brilliant speech writer. He was born in the year 1928 in Nebraska. Passing out from the Lincoln High School, Sorensen soon joined a law school. He finished his graduation from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. |
In 1953, when John Kennedy was sworn as senator, Ted Sorensen decided to join him. Sorensen played a major role in researching on Kennedy's book, named, Profiles in Courage. After researching, many handwritten notes were provided by Kennedy along with his authorship. Later on, Herbert Parmet thoroughly analyzed the book, Profiles in Courage and renamed too as The Struggles of John F Kennedy.
After the incident of the Bay of Pigs Debacle, Ted Sorensen was asked to participate in the foreign policy communications. Consequently, Sorensen played an important role in ending the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Sorensen played an important part in the composition of the Inaugural Address but it was said that the speech was actually written by Kennedy himself. This was admitted by Sorensen as well as certificated in several important biographies of John Kennedy. He played a major role in many campaigns, which also includes the Robert F. Kennedy presidential campaign. Since the last four decades, Sorensen has been a successful as well as an international lawyer. He has advised governments throughout the world, as well as many world famous corporations.
Jimmy Carter appointed Sorensen as Director of Central Intelligence in the year 1977. He has been associated with quite a number of famous institutions, which includes the Council on Foreign Relations, the Century Institute, Institute of Politics at Harvard, and the Princeton University.
