Pius X high School in Lincoln is a catholic high school. Bishop Louis B. Kucera founded the Pius X high school in October 1, 1956. The motto of the school is “Restore All Things In Christ.” Theo the thunderbolt is the mascot of the Pius X High School. Father James Meyesenburg is the present superintendent. The principal of the school is Tom Korta. There are 960 students in the Pius X High School with 85 faculties. There are both religious and lay people working in the school as stuff. |
The school was named after Pope St. Pius X.
The Lincoln Pius X high School forms a close bond with each other. All the alumni and present students form a great Pius family.
On February 16 2007 Pius X High School invited the former football coach of Nebraska Cornhusker football team, Tom Osborne to share some values and importance of character and how it is shaped everyday.
The Pius X High School has a football team whose coach is Tim Aylward. It has achieved six overall school titles in recent years, the last being the Class B State Championships.
The notable footballers who were a part of the school are Adam Treu and Paul Jarrett.
The basketball team of the Pius X School won the State Championship in 2004.
There is a Learning and Performing arts Center where students can take part in theatre productions. Joseph Moser heads the theatre department.
In 2006 Pius X high School launched its first film production under the name “PiHi Productions. They showcase their films at the Thunderfest Film Festival.
The recent films made by the school are Dead Broke Kuck, The Newcomer, Over Seasons: Ch 14.
The Pius X Band headed by Mike Murphy performs in Class AA in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The school publishes its official newspaper, the Pius X- Change. The editor-in-chief of the newspaper is Rachel Albin.
There are many clubs in Pius X High School like the key club, art Club, International Club, Literature Club.
